These Classroom Volunteers are officially called "WiseWrite Coaches". WiseWrite Coaches work directly with 5th graders in the WiseWrite language arts residency, a program where every student becomes a PLAYWRIGHT!
WiseWrite ignites students’ imaginations and activates creativity and organized thinking by writing plays. This unique year-long program encourages students to use their imagination, practice and refine their writing and re-writing skills, and create finished scripts that are 'published.’ Some scripts even get produced on the Mainstage at The Repertory Theatre as part of a celebration of the playwrights’ hard work. In the role of "Coach", you have the opportunity to be the support individual students and staff need to ensure the kids we’re serving produce their best plays.
WiseWrite coaches assist students in the classroom each step of the way as they take their plays from idea to finished work. Classroom teachers and Springboard to Learning teaching partners are responsible for maintaining class order / behavior and following the lesson plan. Coaches act as support to the classroom teacher and the Springboard to Learning teaching partners.
