Housecall Providers is an innovative medical nonprofit providing primary care and hospice services to Portland’s homebound seniors and people with advanced illness. Our program currently has volunteer opportunities available for compassionate men and women who have a desire to make a profound difference in the lives of our patients and their families.
Housecall Providers volunteers bring comfort to patients who are nearing the end-of-life, offering a calm presence to those afflicted with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Volunteers spend 3 to 4 hours per week with our patients, providing respite to caregivers or friendly visits to multiple patients.
Potential volunteers must complete four comprehensive evening training sessions prior to making visits and also have the opportunity to receive ongoing education and support throughout the year.
If this sounds like the volunteer experience you have been searching for, we would like to hear from you! Please contact volunteer coordinator, Todd Lawrence for more information or to begin the process at tlawrence@housecallproviders.org or 971-202-5515. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, pass a background check, drug test, a verbal physical and provide TB/vaccination info as needed to participate in this opportunity.
Our next training will take place over the following 4 nights in February:
Monday 2/19/18 - 6pm to 9:30pm
Wednesday 2/21/18 - 6pm to 9:30pm
Monday 2/26/18 - 6pm to 9:30pm
Wednesday 2/28/18 - 6pm to 9:30pm
