We believe that culture and arts are key components to health and wellness. Our groups are intended to provide our clients with a safe space to build community, express ideas and have new experiences.
UCLA Creative Minds Project brings an Art group to the Access Center every Monday from 1:00-2:00. We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to assist the class from 12:45-2:15 in the following ways:
- Work with the instructor to create a fun and inspiring curriculum
- Prepare and set out the coffee, snacks and supplies
- Participate in activities and discussion
- Escort the clients from our lobby, into the group and back down when finished
- Make sure that the coffee pot gets cleaned and the room is straightened up

Mission Statement
The People Concern believes no one should have to live on the street or in a violent household. Our staff, volunteers and those we serve work together to address the effects of homelessness, poverty, mental and physical illness, abuse and addiction to ensure that all of our neighbors have access to the resources they need to be housed, healthy and safe. All new volunteers will need to complete our internal orientation course.
Description
The People Concern is one of Los Angeles County’s largest nonprofit social service agencies. We strive to end homelessness by providing care and support for those experiencing it, through outreach, housing, mental and medical health care, substance use services, domestic violence services, life skills & wellness programs and income assistance.
Since 1963, we have been the leaders in our field. Our staff, volunteers and those we serve all work together to address the effects of homelessness, poverty, mental and physical illness, abuse and addiction. We work to educate the broader community about these issues and improve public policy. The People Concern is a family - one dedicated to a community where everyone, regardless of the struggles they are overcoming, is housed, healthy and safe.
