Volunteers are the heart of our mission at Hospice of Michigan! We have more than 600 dedicated volunteers across the state serving in roles that build on their strengths and abilities - whether it’s providing companionship or caregiver relief support at the patient’s bedside, raising awareness in the community about our services or in a number of administrative roles supporting office staff. We are looking for more special individuals who live in Alma/Mt. Pleasant, or a surrounding community, to join our growing team of wonderful volunteers! Companionship volunteers enrich the lives of hospice patients through social visits, which may involve playing games, chit-chatting, watching Wheel of Fortune, enjoying a leisurely stroll around the nursing home/assisted-living facility, engaging in lively conversation, or simply providing comfort and presence. Service hours are very flexible and scheduled according to your availability and location. Your dedicated service provides our patient's with an invaluable gift to our patients' lives.

Companionship volunteer requirements: must be at least 18 years of age; complete application paperwork; agree to a background/reference check; have reliable transportation; attend a 6 hour volunteer orientation; and complete two TB tests. Once that's all set, we'll go with you on your first assignment to ensure comfortable onboarding.
