Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA) provides rental assistance for up to 24 month per household as well as utility deposit assistance and security deposits assistance. This program help economically disadvantages individuals transition into housing.
Volunteers can work from home or the local Central Texas Opportunities office, compiling a list of houses and apartments suitable for the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance program in the county. List will assist economically disadvantaged individuals seeking housing by speeding up the process of clients finding safe and affordable housing while reducing the risk of homelessness.

Description
Central Texas Opportunities, Inc., (CTO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists low-income individuals and families to become more self-sufficient and transition out of poverty. CTO serves 7 county areas including Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Eastland, McCulloch, and Runnels.
CTO is a Community Action Agency which was established in 1965 as a result of Lyndon B Johnson's "War on Poverty." CTO has limited, yet efficient staff, so volunteers are heavily relied upon, especially from the low-income communities. CTO administers a variety of grants that come from federal, state and local sources such as HOMES program, Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP), the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC), and Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. CTO receives its general funding, the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA), which acts as an umbrella for all other programs.
