team
Some of the 157 team members that form the core of HDC services

HDC in the USA is in need of strong and dynamic new members for the founding year of the new wing of our international NGO. As a national organization working in East Africa, HDC recognizes that we need stronger relationships globally to achieve our mission locally.

Members will be requested to participate in one monthly Board meeting (virtual), and a minimum of one active committee, which will have a time commitment and specific mandate.

As an organization we highly value the time and contributions of volunteers, and have assigned a full-time North American team member to support the efforts of our USA organization virtually. Your support of HDC will be met with a professional approach that is committed to valuing your time and efforts.

Related to roles, we are in need of strong volunteers with the following skills:
Finance: our Board requires a strong financial leader with the background required to assist with our filings and needed external relationships.

Legal: our Board would benefit greatly from a member with a legal background, who can assist our international team in understanding the regulatory and compliance aspects of operating our 501c3 in the US market.

Outreach: we need to build strong awareness and a deep community of support through cost-effective and innovative outreach techniques across the United States. To do this, we need several leaders with strong communication and community backgrounds to help us grow.

Partnerships & Fundraising: we value partnerships with foundations, corporations and faith-based organizations greatly and seek their support in long-term relationships. We aim to develop these opportunities to create new flows of revenue to support our programming, and grow our ability to serve. Equally important is the engagement of individuals for ongoing donations through our outreach and online activities.

Technical: HDC delivers programming in agriculture, construction, water, engineering, mental health and livelihoods. While we have a number of team members in-house with expertise, the breadth and scope of delivery grows annually, requiring more technical capacity. We are committed to continual improvement and look for individual and organization-based alliances to help us both on the ground and through a blended capacity-development program.

Description

Established in 2008, Humanitarian and Development Consortium (HDC) is a national NGO delivering high-quality programming to beneficiaries across South Sudan in four core areas of: food security and livelihoods, protection and gender development, equitable education, peace building and good governance. HDC programming is directed at refugees, returnees, vulnerable host communities, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in South Sudan. The organization strives to facilitate people-centered development programs, supporting crisis-interventions as well as supporting livelihoods-focused initiatives that create opportunities for marginalized and disadvantaged peoples.

In response to the protracted crisis in South Sudan, in 2017 HDC looked towards bolstering its capacity, through the engagement of more resources, both financial and people, from North America, through the establishment of a 501c3 charitable arm in the United States. This new wing of the organization will be a facilitator of awareness, partnership building, technical collaboration, and fundraising from foundations and individuals.
