ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association, Colorado Chapter

Help families who are caring for a loved with dementia/Alzheimer’s to find the resources they need! We are seeking a bilingual Spanish Helpline counselor who can help us return telephone calls to families in Colorado who are seeking local resources.

Our Helpline counselors assist callers with resources for care of those with a dementia diagnosis. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has had some experience with being a professional or family caregiver, can listen with empathy, and appropriately respond to a caller. This support is critical to our families.

Information to the caller is provided using both on-line and printed Association resources. Requires good telephone etiquette, including the use of basic empathic listening and affirmation techniques. Required abilities include: computer skills to look up information and enter data into an on-line data base, and ability to do phone work for a 4-hour shift.

We ask that you commit to volunteering for one half day shift per week, or two half day shifts every other week within our business hours of 9 AM to 4:30 PM. As one of the most utilized services provided by the Association, regular attendance and adherence to scheduled shifts is desired. Training is completed within three weeks in several sessions (about 15-20 hours).

Confidentiality related to our callers' private information is essential.
