ORGANIZATION: The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter

The ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter is looking for volunteers to be on the Western Maryland Walk Committee members duties will include, but not limited to: walked logistics, securing donations, recruiting walk participants, and supporting fundraising efforts.

The required amount of involvement is a minimum of 4 hrs per month (including conference calls). Committee members will be asked to attend the kick-off event on April 4th, as well as the Western Maryland Walk to Defeat ALS on June 2nd, and help with event prep.

Leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support. The DC/MD/VA is based in Rockville, MD with an office in Richmond, VA.

Description

The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of people living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and their families in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The ALS Association National Office and the ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter operate under a shared mission: to support people living with ALS and to leave no stone unturned in the search for a cure. The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA is currently serving almost 700 people living with ALS and their families. These services include assistive technology devices, social worker visits, medical equipment loan closet, transportation grants, and many other services. All of the Chapter's services are provided free of charge to the families.
