Second Harvest is looking for an independent, detail-oriented volunteer who can perform "monitors" or on-site audits of our agency partners. Each monitor requires 30-60 minutes on site, about 20-30 minutes of prep time and 30 minutes of follow-up work, plus driving time. These are bi-annual site visits to encourage food distribution practices, collaborative partnerships, and improved access to safety net services for low-income households.
Second Harvest would provide all training to ensure volunteer is prepared to perform the monitors. Volunteer could perform anywhere from 1 to 5 or more monitors per month, depending on availability.
Could be home-based. Volunteer would go directly to agency locations in Santa Clara County to monitor agencies, after being trained by our team at our Curtner office. This volunteer opportunity could be as little as 4 hours/month, but with more time we can use more of their help.

Description
Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is a private non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each month. We currently serve an average of over 500,000 individuals each month; 60% are low income families and 20% are seniors. By building collaborative networks, we efficiently distribute food by leveraging donations of money, food and human resources. But we cannot do it alone. We rely upon the energy and commitment of the local community to fight hunger. See more about our efforts at www.shfb.org.
