Hospice volunteers have a few characteristics in common: compassion, heart and the desire to give back. Volunteers at Valor HospiceCare provide companionship and support to patients and their families, and make a huge difference in the lives of others.

Volunteers can provide brief respite support in the day for the family caregiver, read to the patient, write letters, put together a scrapbook, help write a memoir, or provide a smile and a compassionate ear. Regardless of what you do, this is a really interesting volunteer role that will touch others and provide many opportunities for growth and learning.

Volunteers providing direct service to patients and their families can receive the COVID-19 vaccination plus the PPE to stay safe. Volunteers can also remotely support families by delivering groceries and making phone calls to patients and their families.

Valor HospiceCare also prides itself on the special interactions we have with our veteran patients! We welcome JROTC and veteran volunteers alike to help with our veteran patient pinning ceremonies and companionship opportunities.

And Valor HospiceCare welcomes volunteers certified in pet therapy, art therapy or massage therapy!

Training is comprehensive so volunteers are well-prepared to provide service. For information, please contact the Tucson and Green Valley Volunteer Coordinator, Pat Richter at (520) 615-3996 and prichter@valorhospicecare.com.
