American Women is a non-profit organization that focuses on STEM advancement for women and girls. At American Women, we strive to empower women and girls across the nation to rise to their full potential with holistic support services that address various needs during the span of a women’s life and career starting as early as elementary school.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Social Media Content/Copywriter volunteer to interact with our customers and promote STEM awareness for women through services on social networks. Social Media Copywriter responsibilities include updating our social media pages, responding to followers and tracking user engagement. To be successful in this role, you should have excellent web content writing skills and experience advertising on multiple social networks.
Responsibilities and Duties:
-Writing, editing, and publishing engaging content for various social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
-Optimizing social media posts (language, tone, message) based on our target audience’s behaviors
-Selecting appealing images and videos to complement text
-Update our social media pages with compelling organization news
-Coordinate with internal teams to create advertising posts
-Apply advertising techniques to boost brand awareness, like promotions and competitions
-Respond to questions and comments on our social media pages in a timely and accurate manner
-Preferred but not required, track and report on social media insights (traffic, engagement, shares, conversion rates)
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s in Marketing, Communications or relevant field
-Abe to commit 3-6 months (3-5 hours per week)
-Proven work experience as a Social Media copywriter or similar role
-Hands-on experience using various social media platforms to advertise
-Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and analytics tools
-Ability to deliver creative web content (text, image, and video)
-Excellent communication skills

Black Girls Movement, formerly American Woman, has a mission that matters more today than ever before: We fight systemic racism against Black girls by providing them with equal access to STEM education and resources. We are passionate about bridging the gap and increasing representation of Black women in STEM fields. We do this by connecting black female students interested in science, tech, engineering, and math with unique learning and mentoring opportunities. Currently, we’re serving high school girls, and we envision expanding our programming to serve Pre-K and kindergartners as well as elementary and middle school ages.
