This role is essentially a fundraising role and we hope that you would like to do a minimum of 3 fundraising events/activities per year which is the goal that each of our fundraising volunteers aims for. If you are only able to commit to one a year then we would obviously still love to have you onboard and our volunteer co-ordinator will support you at every step.
What you do for fundraising is up to you but we think that you will need to be a people person and have, or want to develop, event planning, organisation and management skills. We would also love for you to get involved in the charity and how it is run and even go out to Kenya to visit the project and meet the children if you would like to. The extent to which you get involved is your choice but the opportunities are there for the taking!
Please be aware that we are a Christian charity and although we don't ask that you are a Christian to work with us, this would certain be a really good match for you if you are a Christian individual looking for a community outreach role.

Description
The main activity of Kisumu Children Trust is a Children’s Home in Kisumu, Kenya which has existed since 1995. It began when a few desperate children were taken in by a Kenyan pastor and his wife and given a little help by a contact in the UK. It has now grown to become a 72-bedded Home that is also becoming a hub for greater community involvement.
Located in Tieng’re, a village on the outskirts of the city, the Home provides a safe, simple place for orphaned and neglected children, ensuring clean water, a good diet, clothes and medical care, all within a loving, Christian family environment. All the children receive primary education, going on to secondary education, apprenticeships, vocational training, college or university as they have the ability.
Kisumu Children Trust is a registered charity in both the UK and in Kenya.
