The Media Relations Chair works with the Public Relations Manager or Specialist
and other National Office staff to create awareness about pancreatic cancer, the
Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and Affiliate activities in the local community
through media and social media outreach. This includes:
- Collecting local stories
- Working with the National Office to garner media exposure in the community
- for local awareness events and campaigns
- Act as liaison between the Affiliate/organization and local media, including
- being prepared with current organizational messages, facts and statistics
- as well as acting as an Affiliate Spokesperson when necessary
- Building and cultivating relationships with local media
- Securing media sponsorships around PurpleStride
- Participating in the annual World Pancreatic Cancer Day campaign by
- engaging local media outlets and on-air talent
- Managing the Affiliate’s local social media accounts and messaging
- Notifying the National Office about relevant local press as soon as possible

Description
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is the only national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure. The organization raises money for direct private funding of research--and advocates for more aggressive federal research funding of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network fills the void of information and options by giving patients and caregivers reliable, personalized information they need to make informed decisions. We create a sense of hope and community so no one has to face pancreatic cancer alone. The organization helps support individuals and communities all across the country work together to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
