Bridging The Gap

Recycling Center, Winter

Are you passionate about recycling? Help your community and the environment by volunteering at our Red Bridge Community Recycling Center! Your volunteer service is so important - recycling preserves forests; keeps oil, natural gas, and minerals in the ground; and prevents air and water pollution. Our recycling centers are unique in that we accept items not recycled curbside and provide options to the many people who do not have recycling available at home.

This outdoor volunteer opportunity is great for students who need to complete service learning hours this semester, or retired folks looking to stay active. Volunteers assist the recycling center site manager with various duties, such as breaking down cardboard, assisting patrons, etc.

Flexible shifts - Wednesday through Saturday. Recommended Wed, Thurs, Fri shift: 10:30 am - 2:00 pm. Recommended Saturday shifts: 9:30 am - 1:00 pm or 1:00 - 5:00 pm.

Please let us know if you are with a group, as our requirements are different for groups vs individuals.

Red Bridge Recycling Center is located in South Kansas City. We have a special need for Wednesday and Saturday volunteers. All volunteers must register in advance. Text or call Amy, 816-561-1062 to sign up, or email

We apologize that we are not able to offer or sign off on court-mandated community service or disciplinary service.
