ORGANIZATION: Kirkman House Museum

Kirkman House Museum
The museum is an active part of the community.

The Tour Guide is responsible for greeting visitors and providing them with a tour of the facility. The guide needs to learn the Kirkman family story, the story of our organization, and about the house itself. A training schedule will be developed dependent on the volunteers available time. Once the volunteer is ready to conduct solo tours we request a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week. An ongoing commitment of this many hours ensures that the volunteer remains proficient in their presentation and can keep up with new research easily.
The volunteer may participate in other opportunities such as; exhibit research, design and construction, collections management, permanent exhibit staging, simple maintenance, program and event creation and implementation.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has an interest in Walla Walla and northwest history, and likes to meet people from all over the world. It's also a good learning opportunity if you are interested in pursuing a career in non-profit operation, museum work of all types, or want to be a history teacher.
