ORGANIZATION: The Pacific Center

Pacific Center is seeking an Outreach Intern. Ideally, this volunteer can commit to a minimum of 6 months.

Role of the Intern :

+Work with Operations Manager to improve efficiency and accessibility of PC’s social media presence
+Outreach with local businesses
+Gathering of survey data and report compilation
+Outreach to public at community events
+Assist with city and county reporting
+Assist in the production and distribution of promotional material
+Assist with other programs as needed

Characteristics of the Intern :

-Ability to work on their own, self-starter
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Flexible schedule is helpful
-Computer competence is a necessity
-Competence in Microsoft Office Publisher a plus
-Ability to maintain confidentiality
-Knowledge of web and social media
-Knowledge of LGBTQ community
-Be available to do outreach during some evenings and weekends

It will organize and sponsor community activities and will work to increase public understanding and acceptance of our communities.

Description

The Pacific Center is a premier community center serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning communities in the East Bay. Our services include peer support groups, individual and couples counseling, HIV/AIDS services, information and referral, youth services, educational community outreach, and an information resource center that includes a library, resource room, the most recent gay newspapers and a safe place to relax.
