The Civic Circle, a Silver Spring nonprofit in formation that will teach civics to elementary schoolers, has an opening for a board Treasurer with a background in accounting. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to share in launching a new organization that will involve fun collaborations between Silver Spring community organizations focused on youth leadership, civic life, public service and the arts. The Civic Circle will break new ground by using music and drama to teach elementary schoolers such civic values as civil discourse, media literacy, voting, public service and leadership.

The Civic Circle grows out of Eliza Newlin Carney’s longtime work as a Washington writer, editor and columnist specializing in democracy issues. She writes a column on democracy and civic news for The Fulcrum, and publishes The Civic Voice newsletter.
