Do you love viewing, learning, and talking about art but aren't sure how to get plugged into the art community? Become a volunteer museum docent at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido!

As a docent, you will be provided with first looks at new exhibitions (most of the time with the curator of the show!) in order to learn about the art on view so that you may lead informed and knowledgeable tours to field trip groups that visit the museum.

Docents are needed regularly throughout the year, but each opportunity to lead a tour only takes 1-2 hours of your day when a field trip is scheduled. Docents receive the added benefit of attending our museum events - opening/closing receptions, curator's and artists' talks, etc., free of charge.

Upcoming on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, we have a docent luncheon to thank current and welcome new docents! During this luncheon we will have a guest docent from Queen Califia's Magical Circle in Kit Carson Park to present valuable information that will be helpful for the next exhibit, Niki de Saint Phalle: Mythical California, which will open January 12th, 2018!

To join our luncheon, receive more details on the docent experience, and to sign up to volunteer, please contact Arts Education Program Supervisor, Kirsten Barrientes, at kbarrientes@artcenter.org or at 760-839-4176.
