Complete urgent, safety-related home repairs for families in need every Thursday!
Join forces with local volunteers every week to make safety-related home repairs for low-income homeowners across WARM's service area (New Hanover County, Brunswick County, and Pender County.) As WARM's efforts to serve more households grow, we are looking to grow Thursday volunteer days, too. Your support and participation means more households can be served and more families can be safer in their homes!
No experience is necessary!
WARM provides all tools, materials, and instruction needed to complete repairs. You are welcome to bring your own favorite hand tools, gloves, knee pads, or other similar items that will make working outdoors and with your hands more comfortable! Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty.
About the Repairs
Repairs generally include basic carpentry, floor repairs, kitchen and bathroom repairs, accessibility upgrades, and more.

Mission Statement
WARM NC's mission is to repair, rebuild, and make homes accessible; and to inspire service, generosity, and hope. Serving low-income homeowners in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, and Pender counties, many of whom are elderly, disabled, and/or veterans. WARM helps people age in place safely by preventing home accidents and illnesses - preserving their dignity and independence.
Description
Founded as Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry, WARM NC began in 1996 in response to hurricanes Bertha and Fran. Volunteers from across our region were organized by leaders of the Wilmington District of the United Methodist Church to repair the damaged homes of low-income and elderly residents. As they entered the homes, volunteers noticed that much of the damage predated the storms - they just did not have the resources to make costly repairs. So, while responding to a natural disaster, WARM volunteers discovered a social disaster: substandard housing.
Since its inception, WARM has helped over 2,000 families in Southeastern North Carolina.
WARM opened the Center for Homeownership Retention in 2023. We will keep going until every homeowner in our service area is able to live safely and independently in the home they worked so hard to pay for.
