Historic Dumfries Virginia, Inc. is a small non-profit that operates the Weems-Botts Museum in Dumfries, Virginia - Virginia's oldest continually-chartered town. Our mission is to preserve and promote the historical heritage of Dumfries. Dumfries' is a hidden historical gem in northern Virginia. The town was once a bustling colonial port rivaling New York, Philadelphia, and Boston (in terms of tonnage) prior to the Revolutionary War.
Our budget and staff capacity is very limited and we could really use some green thumbs to assist with gardening and park upkeep around the property, which includes the historic house and garden, a town park, and a museum annex/visitor welcome area with garden beds and potted plants.
Examples of work include:
- Trash pick up
- Pruning bushes and shrubs
- Removing plants and replanting more appropriate plants (native/low-water at the annex and historical at the museum)
- General beautification
Supplies will be provided.
We can also use help from volunteers who would like to be on the housekeeping crew.
Please contact Karleen Kovalcik, executive site manager, at (703) 221-2218 or email@example.com. Thank you!!
We'll work with your schedule.
