The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Time is our most precious gift. Share your gift with a hospice patient.
Time is limited, yet of eternal value. What makes it so is how you use it and to whom you give it. Share your gift of time with a patient on their end-of-life journey. No special skills needed - just a listening ear and an open heart. It will be some of the most rewarding time you'll ever spend.
Great Lakes Caring, a leading home health and hospice agency, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families in the Andover, N. Andover, Burlington, Haverhill and Newburyport area. We are looking for Administrative, Companionship, and Veteran Volunteers as well as Crafting, Musical, and Pet Therapy Volunteers.
As hospice patients approach their end-of-life extra support is needed for both the patient and their family. We are looking for special volunteers to visit patients at the bedside and offer vigil and support. You could hold a hand, sign a song, recite poetry or read a scripture while providing support for the family at the patient's bedside.
Hours are flexible - weekdays, evenings, weekends and on an on-call basis. Orientation and training provided; no physical care to patient required.
