Dayton Corps AmeriCorps

The City of Dayton, in partnership with the University of Dayton's Fitz Center has been awarded an AmeriCorps grant.

The Dayton Corps members serve in one of three different separate corps: Education, Neighborhood, and Opportunity.

The Education Corps is located at Dayton Metro Library: Madden Hill and Northwest branch locations, where they engage families, as well as providing summer and after school homework help for youth.

The Neighborhood Corps is located at the City Hall and serves to building capacity, and engaging our residents in the Edgemont, Carillon, Westwood, and Residence Park neighborhoods.

The Opportunity Corps is located at Daybreak, St. Vincent, and Homefull, and provide financial literacy and job training to individuals receiving services through those organizations. We also have a member serving at Montgomery Country Homeless Solutions working on landlord recruitment and engagement.

Description

Dayton Corps is an AmeriCorps program through ServeOhio, administered by the University of Dayton Fitz Center for Leadership in Community. In Dayton Corps, members work with local non-profits in three areas: neighborhood leadership development, housing insecurity and employment, and education. Members will also participate in weekly member trainings and statewide AmeriCorps trainings and events. Both UD students and other community members are encouraged to apply. Stipends for living expenses are available, and members may be eligible for an AmeriCorps education award upon completion of their term of service.
