ORGANIZATION: Full Life Care

POSITION OVERVIEW & IMPACT: Want a wonderful opportunity to lead events in the community that help to combat social isolation? Help out at one of the Coffee Hours at a Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) building located in Seattle. Seattle Housing Authority provides stable low-income housing to more than 34,000 tenants, many of whom are elderly or adults with disabilities. Coffee Hour gives residents a safe and welcoming environment to socialize and build community.

This experience will give you the chance to interact with individuals from all walks of life. Some individuals have mental and/or physical disabilities and all qualify for low-income housing. We work to cultivate a positive and inclusive environment that encourages creativity and conversation. In this role, you have the chance to enhance your leadership and interpersonal skills. We will provide you with all of the necessary materials and relevant training.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Coffee Hours last for two hours and are intended to provide a safe and welcoming space for residents to socialize and build community. We are looking for volunteers to help plan and lead activities such as arts and crafts or wellness activities and engage with residents through playing games, conversation, or art. Volunteers would also assist with transporting supplies to and from sites, if able.

TIME AND LOCATION: The Coffee Hour is in First Hill on Mondays from 10 am - 12 pm. Volunteers would be expected to help out with set-up and clean-up, for a total of about 2.5 - 3 hours each week (with some flexibility).
