Since client families bring in children into the pantry, we are required by law to ask volunteers to complete their own background check. It is free, quick, and easy: https://epatch.state.pa.us/. Please email the completed background check to me at cindy@secondhelpingpa.org or bring in a hard copy when you volunteer. Thank you!

Mission Statement
Go green and fight hunger through food recycling. Our goal is to recycle and redistribute perfectly good food to people experiencing hunger in Bucks County and surrounding areas.
Description
Second Helping is a food pantry that assists food insecure clients in the Neshaminy and Pennsbury school districts. We also provide emergency food to anyone outside of the districts. No one is turned away.
Go green and fight hunger through food recycling. In America, 40% of food goes to landfills meanwhile 1 in 6 Americans go hungry! In dollars, we waste 165 billion a year; a 50% increase from 1974! Demand at pantries has been increasing due to working families that were hit hard by the recession. In Bucks County, 1 in 10 residents and 15% of all children are considered food insecure.
We believe that no one should go hungry. No one should have to choose between medication, housing, and putting food on the table.
We seek to collect food from restaurants, caterers, cafeterias, grocery and farm stores. These business throw out food because it is less costly than storing, handling, and shipping it for donation. We help by providing the resources by handling and delivering food to Bucks County pantries. Otherwise, thrown out food goes to the landfill where it decomposes and releases methane, a highly potent greenhouse gas.
