This is a one year position that transitions to a three year manager position, with mentoring support from the current manager. Specific duties include preparing a monthly meeting agenda, monitoring our Facebook account, and completing contracts for training locations. General management duties include overseeing the management team as well as handling any athlete disciplinary actions. Regular communication and interaction with staff in the state office is required. The time commitment varies from three to ten hours a week, depending on the season. Two weekend training sessions are provided.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Description

Our 150 athletes, ranging in age from 8 to 70, train in 13 different sports in several locations in the Adams County area, as well as in Hanover. Our athletes participate in local and three state level competitions every year. Some of our athletes have traveled to National as well as World Games.
