Join us for a week of exciting and educational events showcasing the artists, designers, musicians, filmmakers, authors, fashion and beauty changemakers who are lighting up our screens and airwaves to shift our consciousness and conversations for good.
How many years in a row have you told yourself, this is the year you are going to read more? Make yourself accountable with an adorable reading partner and become a Reading Coach! Stop in after work and help kids succeed in school, while simultaneously fulfilling your New Years goal!
HIKE Reading Coaches read aloud, play literacy games, and teach kids new skills. The reading sessions are relaxed and fun. By working together, you can help give a child the vital skills they need to read, grow, and succeed. We prepare the lesson plan and activities. You just come build confidence, encourage, and have fun!
Our Reading Labs take place within the low-income housing communities we serve. Reading Coach shifts run between 4:45pm-6:30pm Mondays through Thursdays. Can’t make it for the full two hours? No worries - whether you can come for an hour or two, your help is greatly needed and appreciated!

Phoenix Family empowers people living in low-income housing communities with the on-site support they need to gain stability and achieve self-sufficiency.
A stable, safe home holds enormous possibilities for a low-income family striving to chart a more secure and hopeful future. With an average household income of just $11,743, Phoenix Family’s residents are often just one crisis away from becoming homeless. And, like millions of low-income individuals across the United States, they need more than housing to build personal and financial assets and overcome barriers to success - they also require services where they live.
Phoenix Family’s Youth Development, Families First and Senior Empowerment Programs provide those critical on-site services that help residents learn skills and gain perspectives that keep dreams of stability and hope realities for the future.
Phoenix Family’s staff and programs rely on trust, rapport, choice and convenience to engage residents in services. All services delivered are culturally appropriate and based on the desired outcomes of residents, including increased disposable income, increased educational levels, improved health, and strengthened social networks.
