Hospice Volunteer - Sutter Care at Home
RSVP of San Mateo & Northern Santa Clara Counties
Hospice Volunteer Job Description:
" Become a Hospice Volunteer. No prior experience is required. All you need is your willingness to extend compassion to others. We will provide you with our comprehensive training and ongoing support.
" Volunteers provide non-clinical care, and it can be as simple as sitting by the patient's bedside, listening with compassion, playing music, reading a book or running a quick errand, providing a respite relief for patient family members and caregivers.
" Volunteers visit patients all the way from South San Francisco down to Palo Alto, and we match volunteers based on their location proximity and availability.
" Time commitment: we ask for 1-2 hours a week, and work with patients and families to accommodate a good mutual visit time.
" We provide a very comprehensive training prior to volunteer-patient assignment. Our next Volunteer Training will begin late January 2018 (usually two evenings per week or two weekends, TBD).
We are also looking for Veteran Hospice Volunteers:
" The Veteran-to-Veteran Program aims to pair volunteers with hospice patients who have the unique ability to relate and connect with a patient who is Veteran, creating an environment where life review and healing may occur.
