Docs for Tots
Mission
Docs for Tots brings together children’s doctors and communities to promote practices, policies and investments in children, prenatal to age five, that foster healthy development and future success. For more information, please visit our website at www.docsfortots.org
Position
The board supports the work of Docs for Tots and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by Docs for Tots’ Executive Director (ED), the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
- Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director
- Reviewing outcomes and metrics for evaluating Docs for Tots’ impact, and regularly measuring performance and effectiveness
- Approving Docs for Tots annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
- Assisting ED in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
- Partnering with the ED to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
- Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
- Attendance of at least 80% of board meetings (held every other month primarily by video/phone conference)
- Docs for Tots board members will consider Docs for Tots a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority
- Docs for Tots expects to have 100%of Board Members make an annual contribution that is commensurate with their capacity
Qualifications:
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about Docs or Tots mission and who has a track record of board leadership. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members. Ideal professionals will have expertise in one or more of the following fields: Accounting/finance; Medical Sector; Early Childhood Education; Marketing; Nonprofit management; Nonprofit growth and sustainability; Business development
