Welcoming and friendly faces are needed at Safe Haven!
Safe Haven is a drop-in day shelter for the homeless, the hungry, and anyone who needs a place of respite and a good meal. It is open every Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and offers a hot breakfast and lunch, clothing closet, computer/internet access, basic medical advice, and haircuts for those clients in need in the community.
We are in search of volunteers to maintain the reception area and check in guests as they arrive. Safe Haven is operated by two New Hope Housing staff members, with the support of volunteers each Thursday.
A successful volunteer will have excellent customer service skills, basic knowledge of computers, and ability to work with guests of diverse backgrounds. Bilingual (English/Spanish) volunteers are encouraged, but not required.
Volunteers are needed Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers are asked to commit to each Thursday for at least three months.
Interested volunteers will need to attend an orientation before volunteering. Please sign up here: http://bit.ly/NHHVolOrientation.
