Integrity Idol relies heavily on the incredible work of active volunteers for: - Outreach - Nominations: The form are made available and collected through as many channels as possible including: online ( www.integrityidol.org), through email to local team members, and hard copy collected at community centers, government offices, coffee shops, events, etc. Forms are reviewed by staff/volunteers - clear justification for the nomination must be provided. It has to be clear that the nominee is being nominated for integrity, for example, not simply for good work in the community. Team and volunteers conduct background checks by phone by calling nominators and discussing the nominee. - Management of events - Community building Volunteers are recruited from, among other places, local universities and youth groups. Ideally, the campaign will have volunteers across the country, so that even the furthest to reach communities can participate in the campaign. While financing is often too tight to offer volunteers a salary, stipends for their travel and other expenses factored into budgets. Volunteers are also motivated in other ways: * Experience and certification: both in terms of the tasks they are asked to perform and the value they can derive from working on the campaign. We provide certificates to all volunteers to demonstrate their involvement at a public ceremony and provide reference letters as needed to help them use the experience to move onto other opportunities. * Team-building: we organize a training for the volunteers at the beginning of the process to provide them with the knowledge they need but also to help them build a sense of team and community. We provide volunteers with Integrity Idol t-shirts, and stickers and we host a volunteer party after the campaign to thank them for their incredible efforts. Each volunteer can then recruit an additional volunteer to bring into the team the following year. * Opportunities: we offer the volunteers the chance to travel, build new networks, and develop new skills. In Nepal, Integrity Idol developed a fellowship program where selected volunteers spent several months working with Integrity Idols to learn about integrity, government service and political change.
