Position Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to maintaining a current Florida Dental License, a current DEA registration and the ability to diagnose and treat infections and diseases of the oral cavity. This position works under the direction of the DOH-Lake Operations and Management Consultant Manager - SES and is responsible for:

Provide clinical dentistry, clinical examinations, diagnosis and treatment planning, dental x-rays, extractions, restoration of decayed or fractured teeth. Perform periodontal procedures, endodontics, preventive dentistry and refer patients, when necessary, for further treatment. Maintain oral health dental records using Eagle Soft and maintain medical history records justifying the course of treatment of the patient.

Assure all products and medications used during patient care are current and not expired.

Provide preventive, comprehensive and restorative dental services to a mixed population of adult and pediactric patients along with maternity and other eligible populations. Maintain customer service and quality of care standards as outlined in the dental business plan, working closely with the Operations and Management Consultant Manager - SES, clinicial and clerical staff. Ability to provide dental services at all Florida Department of Health in Lake County Clermont Health Center.

Accompany auxiliaries in a clinical capacity. Assure all instruments are free from debris prior to use on patients. Report equipment malfunction for repair and maintenance according to manufacturer directions.

Observe and provide input regarding dental care processes to ensure continued quality improvement for all areas of the Dental Program.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Volunteer must have a valid State of Florida Licensure as Dentist - Chapter 466 F.S.

Ability to understand written and oral communications. Ability to identify nature of problems. Ability to organize information and to weigh relative costs and benefits of a potential action. Knowledge to determine the kind of toots and equipment needed to do a job. Ability to use logic and analysis. to identify strengths and weaknesses of different approaches. Skill to control equipment or systems required to do a job.

Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to perform job functions. Knowledge of computer software and use required to complete job functions

Training:

Volunteers will need to complete required Florida Department of Health - Lake training. Volunteers will also be trained on various department programs and services and the benefits they provide to the overall community. Development of research and communication skills will also be provided as necessary.
