Position Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to maintaining a current Florida Dental Hygienist License, providing dental hygiene services to eligible clients at the Florida Department of Health in Lake County’s Clermont Health Center in addition to providing education, assessments and sealants to students in Lake County Public Schools through the School Based Sealant Program using the mobile dental unit. The dental hygeniest will perform services under the Protocol for Provision of Oral Health Services in Health Access Settings by a Registered Dental Hygienist without the Physical Presences or Prior Examiniation of a Licensed Dentist - F.S. 466.003(10). Only specified procedures listed on this protocol will be performed and billed to Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Medical Assistance (MMA) Program. This position works under the direction of the Senior Dentist and is responsible for:

Performing dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning procedures, taking digital radiographs, providing instruction on preventative dental techniques, demonstrate proper tooth brushing and flossing techniquest and applies dental sealants and fluoride varnish.

Complete and maintain electronic dental health records in EagleSoft for fixed clinical locations and completes and maintains School Based Sealant Program dental health records using current standards both in accordance with FDOH-Lake policy.

Following proper Personal Protectection Equipment standards and sterilization protocols. Assure all instruments are free from debris and in good working condition prior to use on patients. Report all equipment malfunctions for repair and maintenance according to the manufacturer directions.

Securing designated information sets for the purpose of protecting confientiality, data integrity and appropriate access for all information, both confidential and public record, which is stored in hard copy or electronic formats.

Perform related work as required/requested.


Volunteer must have a valid Licensure as Dental hygienist - Chapter 466 F.S.
