Want to get your hands dirty? Believe that working in the garden is therapeutic and very fulfilling? Come join us creating food in our Community Food Forest! We're a volunteer-led non-profit growing food for the local Food Bank.

We meet on Saturday mornings 9am-12noon to carry out tree care, tree planting, mulching, weeding, composting, harvesting, and other activities - depending on the time of year.

This is a great opportunity to become more proficient in sustainable gardening and backyard food forest maintenance.

About MESA HARMONY GARDEN

Location:

500 Dolores Ave., SANTA BARBARA, CA 93109, US

Mission Statement

To create and maintain a food forest: - as a community resource serving residents in need through the Santa Barbara Foodbank Backyard Bounty program; - as a living educational resource, and a demonstration of Permaculture and Organic principles applied to sustainable urban food production; - to help build self-reliance and a resilient local community.

Description

Mesa Harmony Garden is a volunteer-led project, fiscally sponsored by 501c3 nonprofit Empowerment Works. It was formed in 2010 to turn an unused plot of land in the City of Santa Barbara, California, into a productive community food forest, growing fresh local produce for the Food Bank.
By engaging community volunteers to serve residents in need, we have also created a living educational resource for our community.
