About

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Room to Grow provides parents raising babies in poverty with one-on-one parenting support and essential baby items for their child's critical first three years of development. We rely on volunteers to count, sort and display the hundreds of donations we receive every day.

WHAT WE'LL BE DOING:

Volunteers will be checking (i.e. playing with) toys, folding and shelving baby clothes, and organizing our client space so that it stays beautiful for the families we serve.

This is an easy, fun, way to contribute to the lives of children living in poverty!! Our program serves babies aged 0-3 and the work you do will help ensure that these babies have all of the books, toys, clothes, and supplies they need to have an awesome start in life. There isn't usually heavy lifting involved (unless you want to!!) and you don't have to worry about getting dirty.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:

NOTE: This event is wheelchair accessible and is able to accommodate volunteers with disabilities. If you require any accommodations, please let the Event Manager know, so we can work with the nonprofit hosting the event to make necessary accommodations. Thank you!

WHERE TO MEET:

Check in with the Event Manager upon arriving at Room to Grow. He/she will direct you where to go.

ROOM TO GROW: The mission of Room to Grow is to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of development. Parents expecting a baby are referred to Room to Grow by selected prenatal programs assisting low-income families. Upon their referral, parents visit Room to Grow's warm and inviting space once every three months from just before the birth of the baby until their child turns three. During their one-on-one appointments with our staff social workers, typically lasting two hours, parents receive developmental information, customized support, and all of the needed baby items to ensure a healthy and secure start for their child.
