It would be good to have more people on Saturday, March 24 at 1957 S Spaulding avenue at 2:00pm to meet with 4 animal right activists in Chicago who are fighting to end the dog meat trade in Asia. They help organize protests and are trying to specifically target the trade in South Korea. They are also supportive of helping to transport dogs rescued from butchers and farms in Asia to the US.

In addition to this, they are seeking support to bring Desmond's Law to Illinois. This law is an attempt to seek justice for the animals that endure cruelty in our society and to address the under enforcement of existing anti-cruelty animal laws. Desmond's Law, which recently passed in Connecticut, is named after a dog who was tortured and killed in Connecticut. The man who committed this atrocious cruelty admitted to wrongdoing, but he was able to erase the crime from his record by participating in an accelerated rehabilitation program. Desmond's Law offers a way for volunteer lawyers and law students to advocate for animal victims. Here is a link to a story about Desmond's Law that was recently published in the Chicago Tribune: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sns-how-dogs-and-cats-can-get-their-day-in-court-80790-20171102-story.html

Our small group will meet with this small group on March 24th to see if we would like to support their efforts and work with them on all or some of the issues they are working on. This might become the focus of our group. WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN US TO SEE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED?

So you see, it is really important to attend THIS meeting on March 24th from 2-4p.m. at Urban Art Retreat, 1957 S. Spaulding at 21st. 2 blocks west of the Kedzie stop on the pink line.

Thank you--Organizers Cesar Quiroz, Dianna C Long
