The Oakland Asian Cultural Center (OACC) was founded in 1984 by community activists who saw a need for a safe community arts and culture center in Oakland's Chinatown. Since then, OACC has worked with numerous emerging and established artists and organizations representing a broad range of cultures and art forms to work towards our mission to build vibrant communities through Asian and Pacific Islander (API) arts and cultural programs that foster intergenerational and cross-cultural dialogue and understanding, collaboration, and social justice. Volunteers play an important role in OACC's success, and we invite you to contribute your time and skills to helping us work towards vibrant, healthy, and just communities through arts and cultural programming.

The Oakland Asian Cultural Center is seeking prospective volunteers to assist in any of the following committees or if they have an interest in forming another type of committee:

1. Marketing and Communications Committee

• Assist with marketing (e.g. updates website as needed and post on social media daily, help create promotional materials for classes, events, and rentals)
• Assist with outreach (help develop and implement outreach strategies)

2. Operations Committee

• Reception/Front Desk
• Enter and update contacts database
• Admin work (e.g., assemble packets and run errands)

3. Programs Committee

• Assist in program development, planning and execution (e.g., concept development, develop talent bank)
• Host, plan, and lead tours of OACC to prospective renters, school tours, and tour activity
• Staff events on and off-site (e.g., ticketing, stage management, hospitality, light set-up, tabling Street Fest, exhibition opening receptions, literary readings, lectures, festivals)

4. Fundraising

• Assist in developing and organizing fundraising campaigns/events

5. Facility Committee

• Assist with painting class/conference rooms
• Re-organizing closet spaces
• Helping manage electronic waste

Time Commitment
Your schedule is completely up to you, we only ask that volunteers come in during event times (varies) or during our office hours which is Monday to Friday, 10:00AM - 6:00PM and Saturday to Sunday, 10:00AM - 5:00PM

Age Requirement
All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age

Dress Code
Dress comfortably when volunteering in the office and dress professionally during events

Parking/Transportation
There is the underground Pacific Renaissance Plaza parking that charges $2/hour. At the moment we are unable to reimburse parking fees. We are also located near the 12th street BART station.
