Are you passionate about the environment? Do you like engaging with others, sharing knowledge, and promoting learning and stewardship? Then Environmental Volunteers has the role for you!

We’re looking for reliable, friendly people who are committed to great customer service and enthusiastic about promoting public understand and appreciation of the natural enviroment. Our EcoCenter Docents ensure that visitors to the Environmental Volunteers EcoCenter have a rewarding experience.

Skills needed:

  • Friendly disposition and great customer service skills
  • Ability to relate to a wide range of people
  • Passion for nature, and environmental stewardship
  • Support for the EV’s mission to promote the understanding of and responsibility for the environment through hands-on science education.

This role is perfect for someone who is available on the weekends, has a passion for the environment, and is passionate about providing a great visitor experience. No previous experience is needed for this role and training will be provided for all successful applicants.

Our training ensures that all volunteers have the necessary knowledge and skills for working with their audience, and are confident in the material they are sharing.

As an EcoCenter Docent, you will always be supported by a staff member. We offer flexible hours, so you can choose shifts that best fit your lifestyle.

RSVP of San Mateo & Northern Santa Clara Counties is sponsored by Mills-Peninsula Health Services. RSVP is administered by the Corporation for National & Community Service, the federal agency that supports service and volunteering programs to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement. We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
