Our work requires good links with Records Offices, County Archives and Family History services. In this role you will work with us to improve the existing links we have with these services and foster new connections.
Familiarity with, or willingness to learn the use of spreadsheets is required.
FreeUKGEN core volunteer roles offer exciting opportunities to those wishing to make a significant impact and contribution. Join us and work closely with a dedicated international team, while gaining valuable skills in an established crowdsourcing non-profit organisation.
Tasks we have on hand for this role and need help with include (but are not limited to):
- Review, update and complete our contact records for Record Offices
- Create listing of Diocesan Registries from http://www.diocesanregistry.co.uk/ , review update and complete listing - and feed back amendments
- Contact Record Offices and Registries from time to time to check our records and provide update on our work (provided by Free UK Genealogy staff)

Mission Statement
Free UK Genealogy provides free, online access to family history records. We work with a team of dedicated volunteers to create high quality transcriptions of public records from governmental sources, parish churches, and other trusted institutions. We believe that Open Data and Open Source are key to making and keeping public records accessible to all. We work with others with the same concerns.
Description
Our volunteers have made available:
- 300,000,000 births, marriages and deaths
- 35,000,000 records from parish registers
- 30,000,000 individuals from census data, from 1841 to 1891
We make the databases we create freely available for people to search in order to support their family history research. Unlike many sites, which are 'pay-to-view’ after an initial search is carried out, our databases are completely free to search and view.
