Overview
The Video Production Volunteer for The Trustees will be responsible for documenting and editing the video footage for The Trustees' Volunteer Department. The volunteer will capture engaging footage in accordance with the department's aesthetical goal. The ideal applicant will be energetic, motivated, and comfortable working remotely and at events which may be located at one of the 100+ locations throughout MA. The ideal candidate will have experience using a video camera and non-linear editing. Professional video production experience is NOT required. Interest in video production, conservation, environment, historic preservation, visitor engagement, land management, and/or non-profits are encouraged. Applicants must be tech-savvy and willing and able to work remotely and independently. The volunteer will use their own camera and editing systems.
While the position is unpaid, this is a perfect opportunity for students and hobbyists who want to enhance their video production skills. Volunteers can attend The Trustees events for free. College credit is also available.
Reports to
Volunteer Program Manager
Commitment
10-15 hours per week for 12-16 weeks
- 2-3 days total
- Hours and days flexible based on intern’s schedule, some weekend availability helpful
- Start date is flexible, option to continue beyond the academic year
- Work will be done remotely with weekly in-person/phone meetings
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to)
- Working with the Volunteer Manager to analyze and create footage for the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Week which takes place April 15-21, 2018
- Attend events and shoot footage of event attendees at various Trustees locations
- Edit footage
- Regularly log internship hours
Qualifications
- The ideal applicant will be energetic, motivated, and comfortable working in a self-directed and fast-paced environment.
- Interest in conservation, environment, historic preservation, visitor engagement, land management, and/or non-profits is encouraged.
- Applicants must be tech-savvy and familiar with shooting footage and basic non-linear video editing.
- Experience with graphic design tools are desired but not required. Professional experience is NOT required.
- Applicants should have an interest and general understanding of video production.
- Candidates must be a sophomore or above and have access to reliable personal transportation
