The volunteer phone coordinator acts kind of like a receptionist for the organization. The person will respond to calls/voicemails about potential adoptions or surrenders, gather pertinent information and direct it to others for follow up. Calls don't have to be answered in real time; you can pick one time a day to respond to all of the voicemails. The person currently doing it estimates that it's 0-2 hours of work per day. Sometimes days will go by without a call and other times there are 2-3 calls in one day. We have a cell phone for our hotline, so you won't have to use your personal phone number.
Because this is the first contact with the organization many people will have, timeliness and customer services skills are important. The toughest part of the role is thinking with your head and not your heart. All of the work can be done virtually, but we need someone who lives in the Willamette Valley area so we can hand off the phone and touch base with you in-person if needed.

Mission Statement
Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon (SDRO) promotes the well being, safety and care of older dogs age 6 and up. As a volunteer-driven organization, our mission is to find new homes for dogs who are homeless or in unhealthy homes, so that they may spend the remainder of their lives in loving homes.
