JCA Heyman Interages Center seeks volunteers (age 50+) to work with young people (K-12) throughout the school year at participating MCPS schools. Volunteers will work one-on-one or in small groups with students during school or after school in a tutoring and mentoring program. Volunteers help our young people develop the skills and confidence they need while building connections between older adults and youth.

Volunteers have the opportunity to support students in the following areas at participating MCPS Schools throughout the county.

    • Tutor students in reading and English
    • Mentor students
    • Engage in discussion groups with high school students

Volunteers must be fluent in English, complete training for the program, and pass a criminal background check in order to participate. Volunteers commit to attending once per week for the duration of the 2018-2019 school year, as the students thrive only with consistency.

Schools located around Montgomery County including Germantown, Gaithersburg, Rockville and Silver Spring.
Volunteers must be 50+
