ORGANIZATION: Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation is seeking members in the community to assist in our largest fundraiser of the year - our annual Discovery Gala. The Gala will be held on September 15th 2018. We are currently in the pre-planning process and are looking for people to join our committee. The committee meets every two weeks and steers the event forward. Some positions within the committee include, décor, entertainment, silent/live auction, volunteer management, marketing, stage management, food and wine vendors, raffle games etc. This is a large event, and any assistance is appreciated. Looking for people who want to commit until the Gala, assist in the planning and have either experience with non-profits or events or how they run.

Mission Statement

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLF) was established as a non-profit corporation in 1990 to conserve, restore and enhance the environmental features of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, marsh, wetlands, and watershed areas. The AHLF operates the lovely Lagoon Discovery Center at 1580 Cannon Road in Carlsbad, where they holds numerous environmental educational programming every year.

Description

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation's objective is to:

-Advocate for the lagoon, promoting and assuring future lagoon vitality

-Promote balanced recreational and commercial uses of the lagoon and wetlands

-Provide strong support for public access, trails and recreational opportunities

-Develop and promote, through The Lagoon Discovery Center, educational programs to enhance community and visitor awareness and understanding of water resource and watershed-related environmental issues.
