ORGANIZATION: Aspect Foundation Student Exchange

Aspect Foundation
Leading cultural exchange for over 30 years!

Calling all teachers, school secretaries, soccer moms, youth group leaders, scout leaders, coaches, stay-at-home moms, PTA volunteers, school bus drivers, and community activists! If you are involved in your community, this position may be perfect for you!

Aspect Foundation is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1985 to promote international understanding and goodwill through people-to-people exchanges. We believe that the best way to build bridges of friendship and trust among people is to experience directly each others' customs, languages and values. Young people from abroad, who experience life in the US, participate in the local community in which they live and go to school, open their minds to the values of volunteering, democracy and freedom.

Our local representatives work with international students from many countries who come to the USA to experience life with a host family, improve their English skills, and attend a local high school for one or two semesters. This is a part-time position with mostly flexible hours. Most of our representatives work full-time jobs and do this on the side for fun. However, this is also an excellent fit for a stay-at-home parent, who is perhaps polishing their resume to transition back into the workforce!

Although this is a volunteer position, you will receive a stipend to offset the costs of recruiting host families and working with students. Representatives receive up to $1,100 for every 10-month student that they work with and $550 for every semester student. We also offer many bonuses and incentives.

We are looking for responsible adults who are active in their communities and enjoy teenagers. Patience, excellent communication skills, maturity, and some evening and weekend availability are essential. Affiliations with local schools, media, volunteer organizations, etc. are highly desirable.

Must be 25 years old and agree to work 8 hours per month until 6/2018.

In case of an emergency with one of your host families, you must agree to host an exchange student in your own home on a temporary basis. All members of your household must pass a criminal background check and agree to an interview and home visit.

To apply or for more information about becoming a coordinator or a volunteer host family please visit our website at https://aspectfoundation.org/become-a-coordinator/.

Mission Statement

Description

People have always been at the heart of Aspect Foundation. We believe that cultural exchange at its core is a relationship between people, bringing us closer to the world and each other in personal, transformative ways. Since 1985, Aspect Foundation has been providing exchange experiences that offer unique global perspectives and encourage the confidence to make a difference in our interconnected world. Aspect Foundation is designated by the U.S. Department of State as an exchange program and has a full listing under the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET). We strive to help open the world of our students, host families and International Coordinators to new possibilities and give them the opportunity to make lasting connections and meaningfully experience new cultures, traditions, and points of view as our exchange students from around the globe become part of their American host families, high schools and communities across the United States.
