Position Overview: Supports the maintenance and upkeep of the Maricopa County Library District Airport Library Lounge at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport located at 6033 S Sossaman Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pick up garbage and wipe surfaces of all furniture in the space and spot clean upholstery as needed.
  2. Straighten and restock the books on the shelves
  3. Reconfigure the furniture to preferred set-up
  4. Restock posters, brochures, and bookmarks as needed
  5. Check and verify that both digital kiosks are functioning properly
  6. Report any problems with kiosks or the space to the contact person ASAP
  7. Answer basic questions about the purpose of the space and about the Library District to members of the public at the airport
  8. Send a weekly summary email to the Services Team at servicesteam@mcldaz.org. This email should include a request for any new needed supplies as well as how many books will be needed to refill the shelves on the next visit.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to visit the airport location 1-2 times per week
  • Ability to visit and check-in at the Queen Creek Library Branch, located at 21802 S Ellsworth Road

Queen Creek, AZ 85142, before each visit to the airport to pick-up cleaning supplies and refill items

  • Ability to visit the Queen Creek Library Branch after the airport visit to return all unused items
  • Comfortable working with the public and commitment to excellent customer service
  • Good organizational skills and comfort with online communication

Training and Support:

  • The MCLD Services Team will provide training to volunteers covering all required responsibilities.

Time Commitment:

  • 3-4 hours per week

Length of Commitment:

  • At least 3 months
