This will be our biggest feeding mission on Thanksgiving day. The plan is to cook and serve 1500 meals. We will be joining volunteers from Fight2Feed to cook and serve 300 meals on site at Cornerstone Community Shelter and then assemble 1200 meal boxes to deliver to other sites and to feed our homeless neighbors on the street. Volunteers can help and support in several ways. We have 1500 servings of BBQ smoked turkey breast secured, but we can use more side dishes. Donating money or bringing ingredients for side dishes and desserts will be a great help. We are planning to feed 1500 people (homeless, veterans, people living independently with mental and physical disabilities, low income families, isolated seniors and children).

We need drivers to deliver these food. If you have a vehicle with a lot of empty space, plan to help drive if you can.

We are also starting our winter clothing drive for this month and future months. Bring any new or clean coats, gloves, hats and socks to help our neighbors on the street stay warm this winter.

Volunteer shift times are in 2 hour blocks, but you can stay for as many shifts as you like. It starts at 8 am and ends at 3 pm. Stick around for the clean up if you can, please.

We have enough turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, so please consider helping with these other requested items:

We NEED:
Gravy (packaged or canned)
Yams (canned or fresh)
Fresh green salad
Corn Bread (mix or made)
Rolls and bread (mix or made)
Green beans or any other vegetables items
Desserts: Pies, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, candies. We like pies, alot! :)
Whole fruits: oranges, bananas, and other softer fruits
1200 clam shell containers and grocery bags
1200 utensil packets (fork, knife, napkin).
Bottled or boxed water

If you plan to donate raw ingredients, please bring food by 8:30 AM so we have enough time to prepare and cook them for the lunch delivery. All other ready to eat food should be dropped off by 9:30 AM. Thank you.

If you have big card box boxes, like for moving, that will also be useful to transport a batch of clam shell boxes to a delivery site.

Please be prepared to be flexible on what help positions are available, there may be some down time and waiting while the food is being prepared before the packing and delivery tasks start. Coordinating a hundred volunteers can take some time to prime up the assembly line. But we have done this for 3 years now and meals always get made and delivered. Your patience and flexibility is much appreciated.

The people you help feed are always grateful and may otherwise go hungry without your help. Being thankful and helpful on Thanksgiving day is great, but showing compassion and kindness to others every day of the year makes us better people.

About our organization: Fight2Feed combines donated restaurant resources with the mobility of food trucks to delivery food to where food is needed the most in our city. Our organization is 100% volunteer run and supported. We have served over 45,000 meals to people in need in the last 3 years.
