Saturday, August 12th- Colorado Lagoon Habitat Restoration Event

Join us in restoring the increasingly rare and important coastal habitats found at the Colorado Lagoon! Restoration Events are enjoyable, meaningful, and require no prior experience, just a little enthusiasm and the willingness to learn new things alongside fellow volunteers. All events are supervised by experienced wetland ecologists.

So, if you are interested in helping to make a positive impact in your local environment and want to learn what makes places like the Colorado Lagoon so important, join us!

Please RSVP for large groups (10+)

Event Activities:

  • Learning and removing non-native plant species,
  • Learning and caring for native plants,
  • Removing harmful trash from the Lagoon's shores,
  • Learning the history of the Colorado Lagoon and its use in the natural world,
  • Helping the environment!

Closed-toe shoes are required, sunscreen, and a personal water bottle are encouraged! All work equipment will be provided.
GO GREEN and carpool or walk to the event if possible.
Volunteers are eligible to win prize giveaways!
Your contributions of time and effort are vital to the success of the Lagoon's restoration and are truly appreciated!

The Friends of Colorado Lagoon (FOCL) are a coalition of concerned citizens working to restore and preserve an important urban wetland in our community.

Description

We promote cooperative solutions to ensure a healthy balance between recreation, flood management, water quality, wildlife habitat and native plants in Colorado Lagoon. Our primary goal is to protect public health and environmental resources.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 7
  • Entire Event Length: 2 hours
  • Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes, appropriate clothing for working outside, sun protection and reusable water bottles are strongly encouraged. Volunteers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by responsible party.
