Sticks and Stones Rescue is a small, local, non-profit wildlife rescue and conservation education organization. We work to promote deeper understanding of the important role of bats in the ecosystem. We are seeking an intern to assist our small team by creating visually appealing digital graphics pertinent to the mission of the organization. This may include, but is not limited to: educational materials, promotional flyers, merchandise design, logos, animated video clips, etc. We will gladly assist with requirements for college credit and provide references after your successful completion of the internship.

Mission Statement

Our overall mission is to bring communities closer together through an appreciation of nature. Within that scope, our biggest focus at Sticks and Stones Rescue is to facilitate grassroots understanding of bats and the important functions that they, and other wildlife, perform within the ecosystem. We feel it is important to encourage compassion for all animals, but particularly those which are widely persecuted or misunderstood. We are driven by the desire to pursue deeper knowledge of bats within both scientific and local communities. We service the city of San Antonio and the surrounding area, and aim to have a wider reach through a unique approach to social media. We hope that our educational programs and and events will prove to be a valuable and welcomed community service in the city of San Antonio, home to Bracken Cave-- the largest colony of bats in the WORLD.

Description

Sticks & Stones Rescue is permitted through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the rehabilitation of native bat species. When a bat is found injured, orphaned, or in a human-bat conflict, we are trained and vaccinated to properly remove, handle, and treat them for any injuries. After they have recovered and are able to fly and forage, they are released back into the wild.

We also proactively advocate for misunderstood species. We work to engage the local community about the critical role of native bats in the environment and agricultural economy. San Antonio, Texas is home to the largest colony of bats in the world, and we want people to see this as a gift, not a curse!
