As the Front Desk volunteer, you will be responsible for guiding visitors to the appropriate people, places, and resources upon entering the facility; completing general administrative tasks; managing front desk communications including public information displays, fax communications, and phones in a professional manner.

Good customer service skills; an ability and desire to work with diverse children, families, and elders within the community; and excellent organizational skills are a must. Must be able to protect the confidentiality and validity of agency-client data and maintain professional boundaries at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Must support and demonstrate commitment to agency mission, vision, and values.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English effectively.
  • Must be able to comply with agency and program policies, including all confidentiality and safety policies.
  • Must have the ability to use office equipment including computer, fax, printer, telephone system, etc.

Description

The Hampton Roads Community Action Program (HRCAP) (formerly Office of Human Affairs) is a non-profit community action agency that has been serving residents in Southeastern Virginia for over 50 years. HRCAP's mission is "to plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs that foster self-sufficiency through educational, social and economic development." The agency provides services in the areas of education, employment, emergency assistance and housing that enable low-income individuals and families to escape the grip of generational poverty and find a path to self-sufficiency and prosperity. HRCAP operates 20 programs in five cities (Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, and Portsmouth) including a Veteran homelessness prevention initiative and one of the largest Head Start programs in the state of Virginia.
