Nautica has passion for art, specifically drawing, and she is looking for a Community Friend to help her explore her community and expand her social circle. Nautica has a wide range of interests - she loves drawing, painting, crafts, fashion, reading, WWE wrestling, superhero comic books, computer games, and going out to eat.
Nautica dreams of attending a college art program, so current or recent college art program students or graduates are strongly encouraged to help.
We all want to belong yet people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) have less opportunities for social interaction and can feel more isolated. Bridge the gap and help Nautica find a place in her community.
Volunteers are matched with a person with I/DD and attend outings based on common interests. We encourage outings that keep costs to around $15 or less per person, per outing. Providing a ride for your match is one more way you can be of service.
When: evenings and weekends. Two to four hours once a month for a one year commitment. Many of our volunteers have enjoyed the friendships they've made and have continued volunteering long beyond that first year.
