ORGANIZATION: Free Rein Center for Therapeutic Riding and Education

  • 1 person is interested

Free Rein Center for Therapeutic Riding and Education (www.freereincenter.com) provides equine-assisted activities and therapies to individuals with a variety of disabilities, challenges, and diagnoses. We offer 8-week therapeutic riding sessions in the fall and spring, hosted at Rockbrook Camp's riding center on Greenville Highway in Brevard.

We are seeking a photographer to help capture the essence of what Free Rein does--horses helping humans heal. We need photographs suitable for print publication (newsletter, marketing collateral, and fundraising appeals), website use, and social media. This could involve taking pictures of our adult and child students and their horse partners during the fall and spring sessions, and during events, to include our annual Gala (October), Haunted Barn (October), Holiday Barn (December), family horse show and Derby Party (May), volunteer picnic (May), and other events that arise.

Please contact Cecily, Free Rein's Executive Director, at ed@freereincenter.com to learn more.

Mission Statement

Serve the community by strengthening the spirits, minds and bodies of children and adults through interaction with horses.

Description

Free Rein is dedicated to the principle that all of us, whatever our abilities, are capable of more than we think--and that together we can help build a more caring and compassionate world.

Our programs utilize the human-horse connection as the therapeutic agent in working with many diverse groups ranging in age from childhood to senior citizen status.

The therapeutic benefits of structured interaction with a horse are recognized by many in the medical professions. Individuals with cognitive, emotional, physical, and relationship challenges can grow in self-esteem, confidence, self-awareness, and communication skills. Those with physical disabilities, can achieve improved balance, coordination, strength, and flexibility.

Therapeutic riding is beneficial for:

  • ADD or other Hyperactivity Disorder
  • At-risk youth & emotional and behavioral difficulties
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Cerebral palsy & muscular dystrophy
  • Down syndrome
  • Family & grief counseling
  • Learning disabilities
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Strokes & traumatic brain injuries
  • Visual and auditory impairment

Free Rein’s vibrant, growing programs are successful because of our hard-working staff and dedicated volunteers. We all depend heavily on the generosity of our supportive donors.

Free Rein is accredited by, and follows the professional standards of, PATH International. Our approach with horses is one that respects the horse and is mindful of their ways in nature.

Our carefully chosen and specially trained instructors are certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.).
